In 2008, Liza hosted a birthday celebration for her second born son where she asked family and friends to bring gifts that would be donated to CASA for abused and neglected children.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization. They train community volunteers to speak out in court for abused and neglected children who are in the foster care system. In lieu of getting a gift for her son, she asked people to bring items from a shopping list, which included diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, stuffed animals, and unwrapped toys. With the communities support, Liza donated $1,200 to CASA.
Since then, she has been an active CASA supporter and has participated in all their promotional and fundraising events including becoming their website manager for free. She continues to raise money and awareness of CASA at every opportunity available.
CASA is so important to Liza because of her passion for children and she believes that the value of children is grossly underestimated and she uses any opportunity she gets to show that in fact, children are the most valued asset in the world and they need to be protected from abuse and neglect.
